Health and Wellness Assistant (HWA)/PSW

The Health and Wellness Assistant (PSW) reports to the Guide/Director of Health and Wellness and is responsible for providing Superior Care, Social Interaction, Housekeeping and Cooking for the Elders, to ensure and maintain a Home Environment. Participates and assists in the overall day-to-day delivery of healthcare, ensuring that the healthcare services comply with the Retirement Homes Act (RHA) and other relevant legislation.
Health and Wellness Assistant/PSW
· Working with the Elders and providing personal care, meal preparations, and light housekeeping.
· Ensuring the fulfillment of individual goals and needs as instructed in the Elders Care Plan.
· Helping Elders with leisure activities.
· Ensuring the health, safety, welfare, and independence of the Elders.
· Assisting and satisfying the social and emotional needs of the Elders.
· Documenting and recording daily care reports which may include Elder incident reports.
· Medication administration.
· Adhering to the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations set by the province.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
The qualifications needed to join our team are as follows:
· PSW Certification
· Food Handling Certification before starting position.
· Smart Serve Certification before starting position.
· Current CPR & First Aid Certificate
· GPA Training
· Proficient in the use of Point Click Care.
· Knowledge and understanding of the Retirement Homes Act and other applicable legislation.
· Effective communication skills.
· This is a new concept in Assisted Living, and the successful person must be adaptable and flexible.
· Reliable.
· Familiar with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
· Cleared vulnerable sector screening (within the last 6 months), recent TB test results (within the last 6 months) or a chest X-ray (within the last 1 year),
· Three references required.
· COVID-19 vaccination as required by Public Health
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Casual
Salary: $24.00-$26.00 per hour

- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
