The Salvation Army Ottawa Grace Manor is a licensed long-term care facility built on care, dignity and respect for all. Ottawa Grace Manor has 5 Resident Home Areas with either 25 or 26 beds on each, for a total of 128 residents. The home area on the first floor (Gladstone) is a secure home area. Two home areas are on the second floor (Queen and Parkdale) and two home areas are on the third floor (Wellington and Rosemount). Each home area is self-contained with its own dining room, lounge area, nursing station, laundry room, and activity room. www.gracemanor.ca
Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the unit RPN, RN and Director of Care, the Personal Support Worker (PSW) is responsible for assisting residents with the activities of daily living including such as bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene and care of skin and nails. Assisting with transfers and mobilization of residents using body mechanics and mechanical aides such as walkers, wheelchairs and lifts in accordance with lift codes. Records observations and reports any changes/problems in resident’s condition, such as mobility, temperature, skin integrity, appetite and behavior in POC. Assists residents with meals by serving, feeding and assisting residents at meal times, serves and monitors intake of nourishment to designated residents. Changes and makes beds, sanitizes residents’ basins, bedpans, urinals. Replenishes unit and residents’ supplies as needed from designated storage areas. Follow details contained within the Resident’s Plan of Care. Performs scheduled cleaning of W/C, walkers, tubs and other equipment and performs other related cleaning duties as required. All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
PSW certificate required
- Experience in Dementia or Alzheimer’s preferred
- CPR certification preferred
- Long term care experience preferred.
- Flexible team player, Good communication skills, proficient in English
- Experience with Point Click Care and Surge Learning considered an asset
- Commitment to the care of the elderly.
Hours of work: Various rotations available 0600-1400, 1400-2200, 0700-1500, 2300-0700
Every second weekend.
