Reporting to the Manager of Resident Services, the Personal Support Worker assists our residents in their activities of daily living, providing skilled care in an empathetic and nurturing manner. As our successful candidate, you will be a dynamic, self-motivated nursing professional interested in providing quality-focused care to older adults in a home-like atmosphere.

Job Description

• Support and embrace our resident-centred social culture and be proud to deliver the highest quality of personal care to our residents

· Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to understand residents’ individual needs, and advocate for residents.

· Assist residents with all daily living activities.

· Support residents with personal hygiene care, as well as basic nursing care, companionship and activities.

· Identify and report any changes in the resident’s well-being to the Registered Practical Nurse or Manager of Resident Services.

• Ensure clear and appropriate communication occurs across the department, residence, and with families.
• Promote positive relationships with staff, physicians, and external care providers to ensure high quality service is provided to residents.
• Actively participate in ongoing training.

Qualifications:

· Valid certification as a Personal Support Worker from a Community College.

· Demonstrated knowledge of personal care practices.

· Experience in a retirement home is considered an asset.

• Must be able to work weekends, varied shifts, call-ins, and holidays as assigned.
• Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills and be able to work individually and as part of a team.
