Reports to the Supervisor Inventory & Purchasing, Pharmacy. Utilizes a variety of computerized applications to assist in the purchasing and distribution of drugs and medications for the multi-site operations of the Vancouver Island Health Authority s Pharmacy Services. Performs purchasing duties such as maintaining perpetual inventory records and reports, preparing purchase requests, contacting and placing purchase orders with designated suppliers, following up on outstanding purchase orders, updating information in the inventory catalogue, and performing related clerical duties.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training And Experience
Graduation from a recognized Purchasing Management Course supplemented by Pharmacy Technician training plus one (1) year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
Skills And Abilities
- Ability to keyboard at 35 wpm.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment, including a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.
