This is Your Challenge

We are looking for a Pipe/Mechanical Designer to join our team as a technical resource and designer for water and irrigation systems, resevoirs, pumping stations, and dosing units. We are looking for a candidate who is excited to learn and grow with us, develop their skills, and be part of cutting edge design and technology. Ideally, our preferred candidate is adaptable, self-motivated, and has excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Drafting & Calculations:

  • Prepares preliminary and final engineering drawings of water and irrigation process, water reservoirs, pumping stations, and dosing units
  • Prepares detailed mechanical and electrical drawings, tabulations, bills of material and performs the technical calculations required
  • Retrieving, entering, and updating design data within drawings
  • Complying to design documentation including e-mails, letters, memos, forms, schedules, work plans, and technical requirements
  • Checking drawings for conflicts and conformance with project design and/or Engineering standards

Administration:

  • May occasionally assist in and check the work of one or more drafting subordinates
  • Performs clerical and statistical duties related to the work

Requirements for Success

  • Completion of grade 12, including courses in mathematics with trigonometry and physics
  • Completion of a one-year drafting course, plus supplementary courses in job-related subjects
  • Considerable experience as a Draftsperson or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Diploma in Computer Aided Design technology from an accredited university/college is an asset
  • Pipe design/drafting program is an asset
  • Knowledge of drafting practice techniques and standards, basic technical mathematics, and basic engineering concepts and construction methods
  • Skilled in the use of drafting and computing instruments; knowledge of AutoCAD 2D/3D CAD systems is an asset
  • Knowledge of industry or regulatory standards and codes
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform techincal calculations accurately
  • Ability to understand and carry out written oral instructions

Salary: $55,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
