Job description

Brighter Community Planning & Consulting (BCP) is a Windsor based boutique consulting firm that specializes in community consultation, land use planning, and strategic planning. We believe that development is based on community knowledge, empirical data, and solid planning principles.

As we expand our business, we are looking for a Planning-GIS Analyst to assist with GIS deliverables and support new and ongoing projects. You will work collaboratively with our experienced team of planners to provide maximum value to our clients.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review plans of survey, official plans, and zoning by-laws to determine compliance with existing and proposed development.
  • Prepare and review development applications, including official plan amendments, site plan approvals and plans of sub-division.
  • Report writing
  • Plan Policy development
  • Prepare planning applications
  • Support public engagement activities
  • Manage online engagement tools (survey monkey, MailChimp, Twitter and others)
  • Research planning issues
  • Design or prepare graphic representations of GIS data, using GIS software applications.
  • Digitize, edit, and build GIS data for a variety of projects.

Requirements and Attributes

  • Planning Degree from an accredited university
  • Good knowledge of a variety of computer programs or the ability to learn them quickly. (Office products, Adobe, Word Press)
  • Knowledge of GIS
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence
  • Exceptional interpersonal, as well as written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent collaboration skills
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Impeccable time-management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a team setting and individually
  • Willingness to learn and grow
  • An entrepreneurial spirit
  • Graphic design/InDesign experience.
