We are currently seeking a Planning, Development and Safety Codes Administrator to join our Team! Reporting to the Development Officer, this position provides technical and administrative support for Safety Codes, Development and planning.


They are primarily responsible for the entire process of administration for safety code permits and Short-Term Rental (STR) business licenses, supporting the Economic Development Team with the review of development applications, reviewing and recommending changes to MDP, LUB and ASP as well as support for new projects associated with the Town’s housing initiative.
The Planning, Development and Safety Codes Administrator is customer focused, and team spirited, all while being able to make decisions and work independently on the priorities assigned to this role.


Qualifications:
  • Grade 12 diploma.
  • Completion of at least four courses toward an Accounting, Business Administration, Local Government, Applied Land Use Planning Certificate or equivalent from a recognized college or university.
  • Preference will be given to those with experience in land use in a municipal environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimum of supervision.
  • Demonstrated time management skills and ability to manage variable work loads, while ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to compile accurate documentation.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, specifically word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills.
  • Recent working experience or certification of courses in GIS, AutoCAD, and/or Arcview Training would be an asset.
  • Completion the Safety Codes Council Permit Issuer's Course or ability to do so within the first 6 months of employment.
  • It is expected that the incumbent would engage in taking courses toward an Applied Land Use Planning Certificate.
Rate of Pay: $29.08 - $35.35 as per CUPE 4604 Collective Agreement

  • Lesser qualified candidates may be considered at a lower classification and wage rate.
Equivalencies may be considered.


Benefits: Participation in the Town’s benefit plan as per the CUPE 4604 Agreement and Town Policy and LAPP pension plan.
