POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for all plant operations, production and performance through planning, coordinating, and evaluating the activities of the management team and employees. The Plant Manager is accountable for ensuring production quality and safety standards throughout the facility. The Plant Manager works with Corporate Engineering, Manufacturing Operations and Materials Management, Finance/Accounting and Sales Departments to ensure the production of the ''right products'' in a timely manner and at cost effective means. Participates in Company planning and budgeting by maintaining plant budgets. Works with the VP of Health and Safety to ensure safety of plant employees and production processes. Supervises, directs and develops staff who perform the following tasks.

 

DUTIES

Work with Production Manager and front-line plant supervisors to:

  • Develop, monitor, and adjust production schedules to align with customer demand;
  • Monitor and adjust production techniques for safety, throughput, standardization, and quality; identify improvement opportunities & create action plans;
  • Coordinate production strategies;
  • Co-own accountability for inventory and supply opportunities; influence supply chain partners and internal team to resolve relevant issues;
  • Monitor the quality of incoming materials (resin, accessories, etc.);
  • Monitor the quality of finished products;
  • Ensure material requirements and planning are coordinated with production needs;
  • Implement and manage continuous improvement initiatives and activities;

Work with Human Resources to:

  • Implement and support Human Resource strategies, programs, policies, and procedures;
  • Address personnel issues and programs;
  • Maintain personnel records;
  • Demonstrate organizational values and culture to new hires and experienced team members;
  • Influence overall operations culture to become a business enabler;
  • Communicate shared rewards for shared accountabilities, promote the incentive system;

Work with maintenance departments to:

  • Monitor and maintain equipment condition and effectiveness through a preventative maintenance schedule;
  • Oversee and manage special projects and improvements;
  • Identify preventative and predictive maintenance processes that support uptime;
  • Grow skilled trades talent within the plant to move from reactive to proactive/preventative maintenance environment;
  • Maintain overall facility to meet organizational standards.

 

Work with Production Logistics to:

  • Monitor special projects within all product lines and consult on quality;
  • Meet the needs of the field sales group and particular needs of the customer to ensure efficient and quality production of product;
  • Monitor order processing and production schedules;
  • Ensure timely invoicing
  • Monitor on-hand inventories for finished goods
  • Host customer visits/facility tours

Works with Finance and Purchasing to:

  • Analyze plant performance through reports, such as direct labor efficiency, productivity job by job, absenteeism and inventory and backlog, and plant TPE
  • Develop and manage to local operating budget;
  • Ensure Plant forecasting within a 10% threshold
  • Monitor expenditures through budget analysis;
  • Implement material purchasing strategies;
  • Monitor expenditures through budget analysis;

  • Create capital requests to meet production requirements;
  • Ensure material requirements and planning are coordinated with production needs.

Maintains Environmental Permit Compliance

  • Complete and submit daily weekly and monthly audits;
  • Facilitate required inspections for health, safety, and environment, and complete/submit related documentation.
  • Facilitate and review incident any other required medical reporting.
  • Completes special projects and various administrative activities as assigned by Corporate and Operations Leadership to support the overall objectives of the Company.

 

SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Minimum 6 years of related experience
  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineer or Business
  • Excellent communication skills, command of strong team management and building skills, and the ability to organize individuals effectively in an environment with multiple production deadlines and schedules.
  • Must possess knowledge of production control principles, plant management and supervisory policies; methods of controlling and enforcing quality production standards; and health and safety standards.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to motivate individuals and teams to meets specified deadlines.
  • Must possess strong decision-making skills, analytical and problem-solving ability, and ability to remedy potential or existing problems.
  • Ability to evaluate and address personnel issues, such as employee promotion, transfer, and absenteeism.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing techniques is required.
  • Project Management/Coordination experience is required.
  • Valid driver license with ability to travel within North America occasionally.
