Plant Operations Manager - Full-time

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Operations Manager to lead and supervise the maintenance of our building and oversee our Engineering and Utility Receiving department. This is a hands-on management position; most of the time will be spent out of the office completing engineering and maintenance duties to ensure the club's facilities meet safety standards and operate efficiently.

Duties & Responsibilities

PERFORM MAINTENANCE/ ENGINEERING DUTIES

· Ensure the proper functioning of all club systems, including heating, cooling, electrical and ammonia systems, water boilers, pool chemicals, pumps, and filters.

· Conduct maintenance and repairs on plant equipment and machines, consulting with contractors and repairmen to minimize downtime and ensure facilities are in optimal condition.

· Assist with ice flooding, cleaning, and edging.

· Perform general duties, including monitoring the heating/air conditioning system, repairs of electrical equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, carpet shampooers, laundry machines, etc., replace lights bulbs as needed.

· Conduct regular checks of the fire panel and organize annual fire drills.

· Tour the club regularly to ensure efficient operation of all systems.

MANAGEMENT OF PLANT OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT

· Effectively manage the maintenance and engineering departments; assign tasks, set priorities, and provide guidance when needed.

· Meet regularly with the Director of Operations, Assistant Plant Operations Manager, and Building Services Manager to plan and organize department activities and discuss staff-related matters.

· Schedule annual courses for engineers, including hearing tests, boom lift training, and propane certification.

· Ensure the club is up to date and compliant with any changes to federal/provincial safety, health, and environmental standards.

· Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers, and forecast expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure resources are allocated efficiently.

· Oversee preventative maintenance software to ensure all equipment is in order

SUPERVISE AND TRAIN STAFF

· Recruit, train, and supervise the maintenance and engineering staff, providing onboarding and coaching as required.

· Oversee the training of the Building Services Manager and Assistant Plant Operations Manager on new procedures and policies.

· Conduct annual performance reviews of the Assistant Plant Operations Manager, Building Services Manager, engineers, and utility receivers.

GENERAL MANAGEMENT DUTIES

· Create weekly staff schedules for engineers and utility receivers.

· Manage payroll for all maintenance and engineering staff.

· Research and order parts as required, respond to telephone and email messages, and address member and staff requests promptly.

· Maintain regular communication with the Director of Operations regarding special projects and complete special tasks as required.

· Assist with the successful execution of special events related to facility set up and tear down.

Requirements & Qualifications

· Minimum 10 years' proven success in a leadership role.

· Minimum 10 years' experience working in plant management.

· 4th Class Power Engineer certification is mandatory.

· Level 1 & 2 Pool Operator certificate is required.

· IFO (Ice Facility Operator) certification is an asset.

· Diploma or certificate in engineering preferred.

· Familiarity with federal/provincial regulations pertaining to safety, health, and environmental standards.

· Experience with facility management software, maintenance tracking systems, and other relevant technologies.

· Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
