As a Playfield Coordinator, you will be part of a dynamic team that liaises and consults with sport organizations and community stakeholders in relation to playfields operated by Calgary Parks. Primary duties include:
- Provide input in the development and maintenance of open space and sport fields/facilities.
- Assess access to City land and facilities for sports use.
- Monitor policy development, implementation, and interpretation of policies related to sport and facilities.
- Review the operations of policies and partnerships (for example: Calgary Civic Sport Policy).
- Assist sport organizations with negotiating and maintaining leases and licenses of occupation with The City of Calgary.
- Act as a liaison/resource for other business unit staff.
- Represent The City on various committees and projects.
- Complete a variety of administrative duties and report writing.
- Research, collect and analyze data in the area of sport development.
Qualifications
- A degree in Sport Administration, Recreation Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in sports/recreation management and development.
- Experience consulting with groups who book and utilize public open spaces as well as applied knowledge of trends and issues relevant to sports/recreation.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) and access to a personal vehicle for work is required.
- Experience with the development permit process, planning sustainable facility projects, and lease/license agreements will be considered an asset.
- Strong customer service and leadership skills, political and organizational perceptiveness, and the ability to build and nurture productive relationships/partnerships.
- You are accountable, credible, and adaptable, have well developed communication and research skills, and strong interpersonal flexibility.
