Cronin Farms Ltd. is seeking two Pork Production Technicians so join our team. The positions duties and responsibilities are as follows.
Sow Barn:
- Care and feeding of sows during all stages of production
- Artificial insemination, assistance during farrowing process, processing piglets and weaning sows
- Heat Detection
- Day to day barn activities, including general maintenance and cleaning
Nursery Barn
- Receive incoming pigs, sort by size, and vaccinate
- Proper feeder, water and ventilation adjustment
- Conduct herd health checks and treatments when needed on walk through
- Monitor and order all supplies as necessary (medicines, vaccines, feed)
- Shipping – presorting non qualifying pigs, loading trucks biggest to smallest
- Day to day barn activities, including general maintenance and cleaning
Finishing Barn
- Receiving incoming pigs
- Conduct heard health checks and treatments when needed on walk through
- Adjusting liquid feed valves and ventilation;
- Mark, sort and load outgoing pigs.
Skill Requirements
- Keen stock observation skills
- Ability to recognize and treat health problems in timely manner
- Experience adhering to strict biosecurity protocols
- Experience calculating dosages and administering medications and vaccines
- Ability to work methodically and accurately
- Valid driver's license
- Knowledge of swine reproductive physiology and piglet care.
- The ability to look ahead to see what work needs to be done next;
- Ability to work in fast paced barn environment, with fluctuating hours and minimal
supervision.
- Experience with feeding and watering systems.
