Milverton Layer Farm and Swan Creek Broilers is a comprehensive poultry operation with layer and broiler production.

Responsibilities:
- Perform barn chores as required, learning both broiler and layer operations
- Maintain accurate records related to to all animal care and welfare responsibilities
- Operate skidsteer and/or telehandler for on farm requirements
- Assist with other farm operations as required
Skills:
- Ability to log and record all data related to animal welfare and production
- Attention to detail
- Ability to operate equipment on farm
- Capable of heavy lifting and physical labor as required
As a Barn Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the broiler and layer operations. Your dedication to animal welfare is critical. The ability to be able to move between broiler and layer operations to be able to assist where need is highest, and a willingness to be flexible in what work is done each day will make you a key team member. The ability to prioritize most critical areas of work with collaboration with management and barn specific teams will contribute to the overall efficiency and productivity of the farm.
Please note that this position requires the ability to perform heavy lifting and physical labor. Experience with farm machinery is required (skidsteer, telehandler).
Weekends are covered on a rotation basis, with every second weekend required, however workweek is kept at 5 days per week with weekdays off (ie the Friday and Monday before and after your weekend to work would be off, subject to scheduling requirements). Some overtime will be required during busy periods.
Due to biosecurity, the successful candidate cannot have regular access to other poultry operations, including backyard flocks.
Preference will be given to applicants who live within 30 minutes of the farm, located just south of Milverton, ON
There is an opportunity for the right candidate to be moved to a team lead position, depending on experience and ability.
