SCS Manufacturing, Inc., a division of The Hazelwood Group, is seeking a full-time Powder Coater to join our team of hard-working, dedicated staff at our powder coating shop located at 1607 Woobank Rd, in Nanaimo, BC.

Our ideal candidate has at least two years of experience and isn’t afraid of a fast-paced, lean manufacturing environment. We manufacture everything from small parts to steel gravel boxes, so speed, accuracy, and attention to detail are desired traits.

Compensation

• $24-$28 per hour, depending on experience and education.

Summary

The Powder Coater will be working in a team environment and must be able to take direction and communicate clearly with team members. Additionally, strong self-motivation and independence are required to overcome routine challenges and meet deadlines. The role primarily involves shop work and preparing and painting pieces. Secondary duties will include greeting customers, maintaining the cleanliness of the shop floor, and preparing pieces for shipping.

Job Duties

• Set up and coating of parts per instructions and drawings.
• Inspect metal parts prior to painting.
• Prepare material for paint.
• Maintain equipment by troubleshooting malfunctions and reporting inaccuracies.
• Document powder usage and assist in packaging, shipping, and receiving.
• Confer with management or others to resolve issues.
• Practice good housekeeping and safety procedures and adheres to all company policies.
• Quality control - Inspect final product quality to make sure specifications are followed.
• Help teammates to clean and organize the shop space.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience in powder coat painting is preferred.
• Have knowledge in the operation and maintenance of powder coat spray guns.
• Must be detail-oriented, hard-working, and comfortable with hands-on work.
• Must be able to read drawings and blueprints.
• Able to follow directions and manage multiple priorities.
• Able to work individually or as a team.
• Team player, driven and committed to the success of the company.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must have reliable transportation.

SCS Manufacturing, Inc. is a central Vancouver Island manufacturer of Waste Containers, Flat Decks, Gravel Boxes, and open-top containers.
