As Canada’s leading Data and AI company, we are looking for a seasoned Power BI Architect with experience in designing Power BI workspace, platform governance and knowledge in Power BI development. You will have the opportunity to work on dynamic projects in various industries as part of the Visualization Practice.
Location: Hybrid from Toronto/GTA
Status: Full-Time
Responsibilities:
- Create an implementation roadmap to achieve defined target state
- Design and implement Power BI Platform including architecture (gateways, capacity), security design, and admin settings for cloud and on-prem solutions
- Define delivery and governance models to support Power BI Self-Serve BI platform
- Develop complex Power BI reports and dashboards; Datasets, dataflows, and datamarts
- Perform skills assessment and deliver relevant Power BI training sessions when needed
- Plan, design, and execute migrations from legacy BI platforms to Power BI
- BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field
- Experience implementing Power BI platforms (Power BI Service and PBIRS)
- Hands on Power BI Report Developer with Power BI Reports and Paginated Reports (or SSRS) experience (3+ years)
- Experience with composite models and aggregations
- Experience with 3rd party tools (Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, etc)
- Ability to understand security and governance requirements and translate them into Power BI tenant/workspace security configuration
- Great knowledge of SQL
- Experience with complex DAX queries
- Background in data warehouse design (e.g. dimensional modeling)
- In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (extract, transform, load) framework
- Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude who can translate data into informative reports and visuals
- Proactive self-starter who learns business side in addition to technical requirements
- Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative: always brings ideas to the table rather than waiting to be told what to do
- Great communication skills: must be able to discuss the requirements effectively with the client
- Experience with Analysis Services Tabular models (SSAS or AAS) is a big plus
- Experience with Power BI Dataflows and Datamarts is a plus
- Experience with Power Platform (Power Apps and Power Automate) is a plus
