Position Overview
You’re a passionate analytical modelling expert with an incredible attention to detail.  You enjoy creating complex models and performing scenario analysis to understand and communicate issues.  You can work within compliance and regulatory requirements, are driven to continually improve corporate practices, and can communicate your findings to a variety of different audiences.  
If this sounds like you, we need your unique skillset and expertise in our Power Supply Planning Specialist role.  In this position you’ll become the technical expert on the utility’s long-term resource planning models and use these models to perform analysis around various decarbonization scenarios to understand the best resources for our customers.
In this role, you will:
-Learn about resource planning and make connections with Power Supply Operations.
-Understand existing resource planning models and update documentation.
-Make changes to models to meet the evolving organizational requirements, Long Term Electric Resource Plan directives, and future Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity filings.
-Perform Scenario Analyses that incorporates various resource options and other models. 
-Learn about regulatory processes and respond to formal information requests as needed.
-Research and propose further changes to the models, such as greater integration of intermittent renewables, batteries, and other emerging technologies.
What it takes:
-A bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or economics, with a specialization in operations research, and a minimum of four years of recent and related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  
-A graduate degree is considered an asset.
-Demonstrated experience formulating mixed integer linear programming models/linear programming/optimization is preferred.
-Exceptional statistics, economics, and mathematical complements with programming and computer science skills, particularly with macros and Python.
-Incredible analytical skills paired with communication skills to work with large Excel models and communicate interpretations to senior stakeholders.
In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
