Elmsdale Dental Clinic has served this community for over 20 years and we continue to grow. We are seeking a skilled Practice Manager to join our team in leading great patient experience, support operations, HR leadership and accounting. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of running efficient dental clinics with the proven success to improve patient flow and support a team of skilled dental professionals. We need you to have a good understanding of dental/medical industry norms, standards, and privacy protocols and be a leader dental software and service technology used in modern dental practices.
Role & responsibilities:
- Lead the daily operations of the medical practice, ensuring efficient and effective functioning
- Organize and help lead (along with the dentists) regular staff meetings and team events
- Develop a professional rapport with Associate Dentists and the team, providing support as needed.
- Supervise and manage staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to improve workflow and ensure compliance with regulations for dental best practices.
- Monitor and manage the practice's budget, including financial planning and reporting
- Budget for office expenses/projects and oversee the provision of supplies, orders, projects, repairs, maintenance, equipment servicing, etc.
- Bookkeeping functions for accounting purposes supporting good practices
- Doing monthly bank account reconciliations - perform other daily, weekly, monthly, and annual bookkeeping duties, as necessary. SAGE accounting
- Handle processing and paying A/P’s as well as tracking the health of the A/R’s
- Coordinate patient scheduling, registration, and billing processes
- Maintain electronic medical records and ensure their accuracy and confidentiality
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient care and outcomes
- Address patient concerns or complaints in a timely and professional manner
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices
- Coordinate any marketing efforts working with suppliers
- Support Front Desk duties/responsibilities as needed
- Understand the Dental Assisting and Hygienist duties/responsibilities to better understand the demands of these positions.
Skills needed for this role
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration or related field (preferred)
- Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role in a medical office or hospital setting, 3+ years
- Knowledge of medical terminology, electronic medical records systems, and billing procedures
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with staff, patients, and healthcare providers
- Proficient in budgeting and financial management principles – SAGE experience an asset and dental practice management software (Abel) systems used by the practices.
- Familiarity with human resources practices and regulations
- Possess a solid and demonstrated understanding of scheduling, dental/medical billing, and insurance procedures,
