Pre-Hiring Asphalt Foreman And Operators/ Labourer

Eddie’s Gravel Supply Ltd., located in Winnipeg Beach, MB is looking for an experienced Asphalt Foreman/woman as well as Operators and Labourers to join our crew. All work will be done in Manitoba and the surrounding area. The successful candidate should be hardworking, self-motivated, punctual, be able to delegate tasks appropriately.

The Asphalt Foreman/woman as well as Operators and Labourers directs and manages all on-site construction workers, subcontractors and equipment, enforcing the company’s direction, policies, procedures and safety standards, while meeting construction deadlines. The construction work is varied including all facets of small civil jogs to large municipal and highway projects.

Key Responsibilities:

· -Organize and coordinate the daily activities of all crew members, subcontractors, and equipment.

· -Order material required to meet job specifications

· -Ensure all equipment/tools required are available on jobsite

· -Accurately account for product usage

· -Loading and unloading construction materials, and moving them to work areas

· -Removing rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and other equipment and Directing traffic at or near construction sites

· -Take immediate action to correct unsatisfactory environmental/safety performance

· -Estimating

· -Operate and care for construction equipment and machines.

· -Represent the company professionally in the community and maintain ongoing good business relationship with customer base and suppliers.

· -Read and interpret project plans and specifications.

· -Verify job specifications (depth, quantity, limits) prior to commencement of work.

· -Review and adhere to construction schedules, ensuring milestones and completion dates are met.

· -Promote, execute, and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture, and an integral component of regular duties.

· -Administer and submit daily reporting, and time keeping with daily notes

· -Other duties as required.

Qualification:

· Class 5 Drivers license and own a mean of transportation (required)

· Experience in a leadership role on an asphalt paving crew

· Work Experience - Minimum 5 years’ experience required.

• Proficient in use of all equipment and tools related to asphalt paving.
• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office.

Working Conditions

• Overtime as required.
• Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, grease, fumes, odors, oil, asphalt, and toxic and flammable substances.
• Required to perform tasks that involve standing, heavy lifting, bending, crouching, and kneeling for an extended period of time.
• Use of personal protection equipment is required.
• Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear required when working outdoors.
• Must be able to work outdoors in areas that are dusty and/or dirty.
• Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy
• Must comply with all company policies.
