Principal Program Manager

SUMMARY

The Equinix Transformation office is responsible for building strategic relationships with stakeholders to deliver large scale global cross-functional business transformation programs. The Principal Project & Program Manager supports the strategy, execution and delivery of global programs that seek to materially shift the trajectory of our business. This individual is an experienced change agent who has mastered project management skills to help teams formulate plans from ambiguity, resolve issues, and remove roadblocks by working in an agile environment and leading teams using Agile thinking.

This is an individual contributor role that will combine strategic and tactical project and program management skills and experience to build and deliver transformational programs globally. The role is considered hybrid (2 days in office) based out of our Dallas/Frisco Center of Excellence, reporting to the Sr. Director, Project & Program Management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Focus on execution and results: establishing high standards for performance, setting goals and developing plans, following through and holding people accountable for results.
  • Lead global, cross functional workstreams focused on accelerating our strategic priorities and ensure program and/or project goals and objectives are met to help teams execute programs on time, on budget and meet program outcomes.
  • Analyze solutions from multiple angles, provide recommendations considering the needs of functional or cross functional teams, and assess priority based on fit to agreed organizational criteria.
  • Lead program status reporting highlighting risks, issues, and concerns.
  • Create and communicate program charter, scope, and goals to stakeholders.
  • Baseline current process performance, set objectives and complete cost benefit assessments.
  • Create metrics and dashboards to measure process efficiencies to validate results.
  • Use business acumen to advise and influence the most senior executives across the company.
  • Strategically evaluate and drive alignment and decision-making.
  • Present to program steering committees making detailed, prioritized recommendations, communicating risks and program status, facilitating discussions, and driving decision making.
  • Baseline current performance, set objectives, complete cost benefit assessments.
  • Create metrics and dashboards to measure process efficiencies to validate results.
  • Drive program implementation working closely with subject matter experts.
  • Possess the confidence to challenge the status quo and ensure project conversations drive innovative thinking.
  • Estimate and request funding and resources and track budget actuals and forecast spend.
  • Identify and engage appropriate stakeholders, manage expectations and drive conflict resolution.
  • Tactfully address program and interpersonal conflict head-on.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 15+ years of experience in progressive project and program management leading global projects and programs including 10+ years of combined experience working in project/program management at
    • a high growth tech company or technology-focused enterprise.
    • prior experience in a large, global management consulting firm.
  • Solid understanding of the principles and practices around
    • data management, such as data lifecycle, data quality, data governance, data security, and data ethics.
    • managing cloud migration projects.
    • estimating and requesting funding and resources.
    • tracking budget actuals and forecast spend.
    • understanding of customers’ and employees’ view of the business.
    • working for a Global organization across multiple functions & regions with the ability to influence cross functionality and the ability to lead difficult conversations to gain alignment.
    • influencing, presenting, and leading initiatives with senior leaders and Execs.
  • Experienced in Smartsheet and Jira or similar.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • PMP Certification preferred.
