DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the online school and daily operations of a private boarding High School
- Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of online courses.
- Provide guidance and support to teachers in creating effective and interactive online learning experiences.
- Monitor the effectiveness of online courses and recommend improvements.
- Responsible for the Credit course oversight including teacher's binders, School handbook, course outlines etc.) in compliance with the requirement of the Ministry of Education
- Create and distribute School timetables, course timetables and examination schedules;
- oversee the collection of midterms and final examinations from faculty, ensure academic honesty and quality are maintained during examinations and for evaluations in general
- Manage ONSIS and maintenance of Ontario Student Records
- Ensure students' academic files and records are accurate and up-to-date
- Prepare for High School inspections from Ontario Ministry of Education
- Follow, document and solve any outstanding issues raised by the Ministry of Education's inspection
- Guidance Counselor experience required
- Oversee the delivery of OSSD credit courses
- Responsible for recruiting teachers
- Responsible for teacher absences and coverage of classes
- Develop new curricula, teaching materials, etc. as necessary
- Familiar with University/College application process
- QUALIFICATIONS:
- Principal Studies or equivalent experience required
- Bachelor's degree (Bachelor of Education or Master degree preferred)
- Knowledge of Ontario's Ministry of Education requirements for High School
- Knowledgeable and experience with ONSIS
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in the management of an educational environment (private school setting in Ontario preferred)
- Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills and communication skills
- Familiar with the international schooling market is an asset
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and develop effective relationships with all levels of employees, parents, and students
- Experience teaching High School courses based on the Ontario Secondary School Curriculum
- Member of Ontario College of Teachers (teachers who are not OCT, but have considerable work experience will be considered)
- Familiar with the Ontario Secondary School Curriculum and Growing Success policy
- Able and willing to develop a course binder including a course outline, lesson plans, and assessment
- Able to apply Differentiated Instructions to accommodate students' different learning needs and backgrounds.
- Passionate about teaching, consulting and mentoring
- OCT certified
