Job description

National Bank Financial (NBF) is currently seeking a person to join our growing team and lead the evolution of our Portfolio Management applications.

As a Product Owner (PO) you will use your influence on a daily basis and take important decisions to maximize business value in a timely fashion. You will guide the progress of projects, execute to meet the target business vision, and prioritize activities to make them a reality.  Your ability to analyze and solve complex problems, your skilled decision-making and your engaging leadership will be your levers for success.

Your job:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define features, and prioritize the product backlog based on customer needs, market trends, and business goals.
  • Develop and maintain a clear product roadmap that aligns with the company's strategic objectives jointly with the lead PO.  
  • Work closely with development, design, and quality assurance teams to ensure successful and timely delivery of high-quality features.
  • Be in constant communication with end users and act as the voice of the customer, understanding their pain points and needs to drive product improvements and enhancements.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and product differentiation.  Bring continuous improvements to the application to improve client and employee experience.
  • Plan and coordinate product releases, including communication plans, documentation, and training materials.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and gather user feedback to continuously assess and improve the product's effectiveness.  Be accountable for commitments (value, costs, timeline, and benefits).   Identify and mitigate operational risks.
  • Influence the network in adoption of the application Portfolio Management trading features and best practices and support.

Your team:

You will report directly into the NBF Wealth Management business line but will have a transversal role, ensuring that the Portfolio Management applications will meet the business needs of all Wealth Management division (NBIN, NBDB, PB1859 etc.). The PO will also be working closely with business analysts, IT project managers and asset managers.  

Your role on the team is to offer cutting-edge Portfolio management applications for wealth advisors, portfolio managers and their teams to empower them in managing their clients’ portfolios effectively.

Basic requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and seven (7) years of relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of Portfolio Management concepts and practices, experience working with financial advisors
  • Knowledge of Croesus and Wealth 360, an asset
  • Proven delivery experience (2+ years) as a PO
  • Experience in managing large-scale technological projects in agile mode
  • Good knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Ability to create strong interpersonal ties with vendors
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to quickly grasp and resolve complex issues and help making appropriate recommendations
  • Experience in managing change in large organizations, an asset
  • Knowledge of business reality of National Bank Financial, an asset
  • CFA, CIM or Portfolio management experience, an asset
