Job Description:

As the leader of the Production Control team and under the leadership of the Operations Manager, the Production Control Manager is responsible to establish and coordinate production schedules and ensure the flow of materials, parts, and production along with designing, developing, and installing factory control systems. This position is also responsible for inventory/materials purchasing and management, expediting and prioritizing work orders and coordinating and managing production schedules to ensure 100% on time delivery. The Production Control Manager has the responsibility and authority of materials management as the process owner.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Act in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute to organizational policy
  • Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in time
  • Audit systems and assess their outcome
  • Preserve assets, information security and control structures
  • Handle annual budget and ensure cost effectiveness
  • Assessing project and resource requirements.
  • Re-negotiating timescales or schedules, as necessary
  • Supervise, establish, and coordinate production schedules in a factory environment
  • Manages production planning and scheduling for on-time delivery
  • Ensures flow of material, parts
  • Manages staff in the day to day performance of their jobs
  • Works closely with various functional departments
  • Evaluate system performance and recommend improvements
  • Ensure team follows security and safety policies
  • Attend daily meetings to prioritize and plan production activities and maintain on-time delivery
  • Perform and report inventory to upper management
  • Evaluates Production Control employee performance
  • Take ownership of customer issues and follows up with “customer is right” attitude
  • Handles disciplinary issues as they occur and recommends remedial actions to Human Resources
  • Help to administer an employee oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, and high performance
  • Provide personal ongoing development
  • Assists with identifying own performance gaps and takes action to improve through remedial training, self-development or otherwise
  • Ensures that team members are treated with respect and encourages an atmosphere of openness and fairness at all times
  • Communicates company programs and practices and communicates to team in a timely manner
  • Enhances company performance by motivating all team members and championing company activities such as reward and recognition programs to build teamwork and cohesiveness.
  • Takes direction comfortably, able to multi-task, managing time efficiently to obtain optimum results
  • Maintain 5S
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years’ experience as a Production Control Supervisor in an automotive manufacturing environment (Logistics or Materials Supervisor background also considered) and/or demonstrated work experience/internal training/testing
  • Previous experience as a Systems/Process Engineer in a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding and experience with ISO based quality systems, JIT, ERP and Kanban Systems
  • APICS certification considered an asset
  • Strong team building and team leadership with experience in a supervisory position
  • Strong presentation, written, and verbal skills
  • Strong morals and ethics, along with commitment to staff privacy
  • Ability to identify development needs of employees and provide coaching and mentoring
  • Licensed for forklift operation preferred
  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and email
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work
  • Professional appearance and manners
