Production Fabric Cutter - General Operator

MINI TIPI is a Canadian lifestyle brand that operates and manufactures its products locally in Gatineau, Quebec. With the purpose of addressing the lack of authentic Indigenous designed textiles. MINI TIPI collaborates with Indigenous artists to develop authentic exclusive designs to ensure proper representation in the industry. All our products are designed, cut and sewn in Quebec, Canada.

TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES

The Production Fabric Cutter- General Operator is responsible for tracing and cutting the raw material of all our products. This is a critical factor in the success of our daily operations, as quality is an important value to us and this starts with the precision of our production clerks. As a General Operator you will be required to use a variety of industrial machines to help with bulk work.

• Take out the rolls of fabric and set up the items required for cutting
• Trace and cut fabrics for production
• Follow safe work procedures and standards
• Properly prepare products before entering the sewing room
• Ensure the cleanliness of the department
• Label finished products for sale
• Ensure MINI TIPI’s quality standards are followed and raw material is screened properly
• Follow instructions given by the Production Coordinator
• Lift and move products and rolls of fabric (up to 50lb)
• Safely use electric cutting tools
• Follow the daily plan for mapping and cutting procedures
• Document the inventory for daily quotas
• Calculate the layers required to produce the quantity of products for the sales team.
• Effectively and efficiently meet deadlines set by team
• Compile and store fabrics in an organized manner
• Analyze pattern placement to best utilize the fabric use and waste
• Perform repetitive tasks independently
• Learn and exhibit MINI TIPI’s values; Collaboration, Driven, Respect, and being Adaptable.
• Perform tasks using industrial machines
• Meet individual daily quotas

Any other tasks required or responsibilities to help the department achieve its goals

QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE

• 1-2 years of experience using industrial sewing machines
• Metric knowledge
• Excellent time management skills and punctuality
• Manual dexterity and attention to detail
• Proven ability to follow instructions
• Good physical condition to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to distinguish colors
• Autonomy and organization
• Knowledge of patterns and use of cutting tools
• Good hand to eye coordination
• A steady, accurate hand, for cutting
• A good understanding of textile characteristics
• Work quickly and under pressure
• Team spirit and open-mindedness

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $18.50-$24.14 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
