GP Pet Pros is seeking a highly self-motivated, organized, energetic, passionate individual with a positive attitude. A love for the outdoors, driving, and animals of all shapes and sizes are required. The position is a permanent, full-time, day-shift opportunity. The job description is as follows:

The position is a FULL-TIME day-shift opportunity, working 4 consecutive week-days (either Mon-Thurs or Tues-Fri), 8-10 hour days. Start times vary based upon weather and sunrise times. Working early mornings is a must in the warmer months in order to beat the heat, so the employee can anticipate a start time between 5-7am in the summer.

This is a highly active job that does not stop for most typical Alberta weather.

We are looking for someone who wants to grow with us on a long-term basis!

Job Related Tasks:

• Driving! Lots and lots of driving - on all types of roads and elements, including in snow storms, on ice, gravel, mud, etc.
• Canine Runs (Fun-Runs and Canine Cardio) - Running (not walking) 30 minutes - 1hr with a tethered canine
• Canine walks - walking 20-30 minutes with a tethered canine
• Animal Drop-Ins - home-care, such as potty breaks, feeding, medications, etc.
• Canine Adventures - group hikes with strategically matched canines or private hikes with single households (off-leash or on long-lines)
• Cleaning: laundry, cleaning the company vehicle, cleaning up after animals, etc.

An Average Day in this Role:

• 1 - 1.5 hours total (30-45 mins each way) of commuting to and from work, depending on where you live
• 3 - 5 hours of driving with the company vehicle (your time is paid when driving the company vehicle)
• 1 - 2 hours of hiking at a remote or private location, primarily in the woods on un-packed terrain
• Runs, Drop-Ins, and other walks as applicable/scheduled (typically within city limits)

The successful candidate will maintain the following attributes:

• Must be able to run or jog minimally 6 kilometers in 1 hour
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs
• An excellent driver (following all traffic laws, confident in all weather types, and has a good driving record). MUST provide a CLEAN 5-year Drivers Abstract. Professional driving experience is preferred (confident driving long distances in all weather conditions is mandatory)
• Independent and practices good judgment. A large component of this job is independent.
• Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and grow. Long-term dedication to the company. This is not a short-term seasonal opportunity. GP Pet Pros is growing and expanding! Required:

• Clean Criminal Record Check, within the last 3 months
• First Aid Certification with CPR (Human or Pet)
• Fear Free Pet Sitter Certification (approximately $230.00 USD initial cost, must be purchased prior to hire and completed within 6 weeks of hire; will be reimbursed after one year of successful employment)
• Full Class 5 (or above) Drivers License
• Clean driving record (evidenced in 5-year Drivers Abstract)
• Minimum 3-year insurance history available upon request
• Reliable vehicle with 2 million dollar liability insurance
• Employee must provide their own suitable and safe hiking and running apparel

***Ability to Commute***:

Our office is located 20 minutes north of Wembley, and approximately 2 minutes away from LaGlace. Employees will be expected to utilize their personal vehicle to transport themselves safely to and from our office near LaGlace each shift. 98% of driving to this location is on paved, commonly used highways. There is also a possibility of traveling for animal care visits and laundry duties. Except in the case of emergencies, employees will not be required to transport client animals in their personal vehicles. A successful candidate will be expected to sign and agree to maintain their vehicle in good working condition at all times, including but not limited to following all vehicle maintenance protocols in a timely and efficient fashion.

Salary: $20.00-$24.00 per hour
