The Business Investment and Export Development Division of the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources and Renewables promotes the energy-related capabilities of Nova Scotia companies and develops strategic approaches to ensure Nova Scotia businesses are positioned to maximize opportunities arising from the development of the province’s energy resources.

About Our Opportunity


As a Co-op Student with the Business Investment and Export Development Division, you will help promote, market, and administer programs including the Nova Scotia Clean Economy Scholarship and Grant Program and the Energy Training Program for Students which are designed to encourage post-secondary students to pursue energy related careers.
You can expect to:
  • Assist with the development and updating of promotional and marketing material
  • Track, analyze, and enter data
  • Assist with organizing and managing special events (trade shows, conferences, receptions, etc.)
  • Communicate and liaise with Nova Scotia stakeholders in the energy sector

In addition, you will provide support and input in Divisional projects that promote the energy-related capabilities of Nova Scotia companies.

About You


You are currently enrolled in a relevant post-secondary co-op program (Public Relations, Business Administration, Commerce, Management, etc.) and returning to school full-time in the next applicable semester.
In addition to the above, the below will also be key for your success within this role:
  • Interest in the energy sector
  • Awareness of companies working in the Nova Scotia energy sector
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent analytical and computer skills
  • The ability to deal with highly confidential material

Working Conditions


Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day. May be required to work overtime, evenings and/or on occasion.
Normal office/desk environment, however may be required to stand for long periods of time when attending trade shows and Events.

Additional Information


This Department of Natural Resources and Renewables co-op term is expected to run from May 6 – August 30, 2024.

Salary Range:$17.34 - $28.26 Hourly
