What you will be doing in the role of Project Engineering:
The Project Engineering position is responsible for working with customers and determining their automation requirements. They will utilize design documents such as: Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s), Process Narratives / Process Descriptions, Input / Output Lists, and Loop Diagrams to:
- Define and Document Control System Hardware / Software
- Outline and Document Control Networking / Architecture
- Program and test control strategies and HMI Graphics
- Perform Startup and Commissioning Services
- Provide post-Startup Support
This role requires an ability to independently perform these tasks for small projects and provide technical direction and leadership to a project team for larger projects.
Specific responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Control System architecture design
- Control System hardware and software design
- Preparing configuration design specifications
- Preparing instrument and I/O lists, and loop diagrams
- Interpreting design input documentation such as P&I diagrams, Process Narratives and Logic Schematics
- Interpreting and/or author narrative specifications including Control System requirements, Design Criteria and User Requirements
- Reviewing and comment on information to/from customers, other vendors, and other team members within Lakeside
Knowledge and skills required for the role:
- Engineering or Technologists degree in Electrical, Automation, Biomedical, Chemical, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or similar
- Ten or more (10+) years’ experience with Process Control System Implementation
- Direct control system configuration experience of a major DCS solution or PLC/HMI solution is required
- Exposure to the process industry including Chemical and Specialty Chemical, Pulp and Paper, Refining, Power, Cogeneration (Power & Steam production), Pharma and Biotech, and Food and Beverage
- Knowledge of Emerson’s PROVOX, RS3 or DeltaV technologies would be an asset
- Knowledge of Foxboro, ABB or other similar systems required
- Projects implementation experience with Allen Bradley hardware and software would be considered an asset
- Experience in the design, specification, and commissioning of controls equipment for water/wastewater treatment systems would be considered an asset
- Project Management skills
- Knowledge of process control and instrumentation
- Strong oral and written skills
- Good communication skills are a requirement
- Training & presentation skills
