Purpose of Role
To manage the integrity of Iqaluit Store(s), warehousing and staff housing through regular maintenance and repair. To ensure all employees and customers are provided with a clean and safe working environment.

  • Areas of Accountability

1.
Maintain Interior and Exterior of Iqaluit Stores, Warehouses.

  • Ensures perimeter checks of all housing, store and C-store operations are executed daily.
  • Ensures a safe environment for all employees and customers by removing debris from areas to allow employees to move safely and freely throughout stores, warehouses and parking lots.
  • Manages maintenance inventory.
  • Ensures disposal of garbage and recycling materials is maintained


2.
Track, manage and triage Facilities Maintenance issues for all in scope locations

  • Tracks and reports all requests triaging requests based on Facilities maintenance standards.
  • Communicate processes in store to all staff
  • Refer to store connect for all building maintenance requests that cannot be resolved within store resources.

3.
Manages schedule of staff housing audits to standard

  • Manages inventory and discusses housing move requests with Store Manager as required.
  • Ensures completion of staff housing audits every 6 months and annually, completing housing audits and checklists (move in/move out).
  • Prepares housing inventories and works with new / exiting tenants to enforce standards
  • Completes checklists and monitors against the Housing Policy
  • Triages needs based on facilities maintenance principles and actions accordingly
  • Arranges janitorial cleaning if required and monitors quality

4. Schedules, manages and provides coaching to janitorial staff and technicians as required for all indoor and outdoor facilities.
5. Ensures maintenance and repair of company vehicles or equipment
  • Schedules regular maintenance of company vehicles and equipment
  • Triages repairs and maintenance of vehicles and equipment using available or certified vendors or process
  • Send equipment for repair
6. Manages and monitors security of all assets
  • Works closely with security personnel to perform regular/random auditing for security purposes
  • Ensures proper safety protocols are followed by all personnel including security staff
  • Works closely with local policing and government to ensure the highest possible safety of our employees and customers
  • Works closely and under the direction of Senior Manager Loss Prevention and Investigations for any offences in or around the property or involving NWC employees or customer incidents.
  • Works closing with HR to report any unsafe violations in housing
  • Creates a rotational schedule for all senior management for alarm and staff on call.
  • Responds to all security calls and ensure all incidents are tracked and documented as per standard.
  • Ensures all employees are aware of security protocols and shop theft policies and procedures.

  • Job Experience, Education and Qualifications
Minimum 5 years’ experience Building and property maintenance required
  • Experience with loss prevention / security a definite asset.
  • Strong Leadership skills
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada on a regular full –time basis without restrictions
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Able to satisfy a current criminal records check.
  • Maintains certifications for ladder and confined space training as required.
