About the Organization

The Nunavut Housing Corporation is an agency of the Government of Nunavut that serves the housing needs of one of the fastest-growing and youngest populations in Canada. NHC’s mandate is to create, coordinate, and administer housing programs in order to provide fair access to a range of affordable housing options to families and individuals in Nunavut. NHC has recently launched The Nunavut 3000 Strategy, (www.igluliuqatigiingniq.ca) which is a collaboration between the government and its partners to deliver 3,000 new units across the housing continuum by 2030.

About the Opportunity

Currently, the Nunavut Housing Corporation (NHC) is offering an exciting opportunity for a full-time Property Management Officer to become a part of our dedicated team in Iqaluit, Nunavut.

In this crucial role, reporting directly to the Manager, Real Property, you will be central to the management, maintenance, and administration of both leased and owned residential staff housing properties in Iqaluit on behalf of the Government of Nunavut. Your efforts will ensure that government employees have safe, well-maintained, and comfortable housing, contributing to the overall well-being of Nunavut communities.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Providing services to client departments and staff requiring residential accommodations
  • Monitoring all properties to ensure buildings are operated and maintained safely and appropriately
  • Overseeing the performance of the staff housing administrative contractors
  • Responding to staff housing client requests and complaints and initiating required action
  • Inspecting properties, preparing inspection reports, and maintaining inventory records
  • Planning and coordinating maintenance and renovations
  • Supervising and directing the activities of full-time and temporary staff

About You

To qualify, you will need a Real Property Administrator Designation or a diploma in business administration, or a related field. A minimum of three years experience in Property Management, with at least one year in a supervisory or leadership capacity, will also be essential.

This is a Position of Trust and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.

Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages — Inuktut, English, and French — is highly desirable. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also valued assets for this position.
