The Public Information Administrator will provide administrative support to the HWP MO and act as the first point of contact for all visitors to the Public Information Exchange. This role will assist in daily activities to support the HWP MO. This role reports to the Manager, Systems & Infrastructure.

What will you be doing!

  • Prepares, formats and distributes/mails correspondence, stakeholder notifications, documents, reports, presentations, and other paperwork, completing tasks to meet the due dates assigned by the Business Operations team.

  • Acts as first point of contact for all visitors and callers, including contractors, municipal and other governmental and regulatory representatives, property owners, residents and other stakeholders affected by, with an interest in or concerned about CNL activities.

  • Supports the Business Operations team by monitoring public email inboxes, phone calls, and triaging public inquiries internally.

  • Maintain the visitor log and ID badges and escort when required, answer the HWP main direct line and transfer calls appropriately. Sorts and tracks incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries. Prepares all incoming and outgoing courier packages.

  • Perform duties of photocopying, scanning, sending, and receiving faxes
  • Assist with large mailout when required, as well as other duties as assigned by the Manager, Systems and Infrastructure.

  • Meets couriers to receive shipments to office at PIE and Loading Area

  • Prepare bills of lading for outgoing shipments and return shipments to office for various groups

  • Track incoming mail and packages, send/file packing slips for HWP Receiving
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

  • High School Diploma; additional Post Secondary Diploma and/or additional courses in Office Administration or related field would be considered an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an administrator role, preferably working in a team environment with a focus on public interface, customer service and/or communications.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent business administrative skills including responsibility for accurate, timely submission of electronic expenses, and requisitions for goods and services.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are essential, as well as a highly organized approach to working in support of a busy team.
  • Tact, diplomacy, trust, and discretion in handling of sensitive and confidential information, including information governed by municipal, provincial and federal privacy legislation.
  • Experience working as part of a team in a collaborative atmosphere.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in an environment requiring personal initiative and accountability
  • Security clearance eligibility required: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom.

CNL’s Historic Waste Program Management Office is in the beautiful and historic community of Port Hope , Ontario . Roughly 100 km East of Toronto, still close enough to the “Big City” without all the hassle of being in the “Big City”. As a leader in environmental remediation at nuclear and radiologically contaminated sites, CNL is implementing the Port Hope Area Initiative on behalf of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited. The cleanup of historic Low-Level Radioactive Waste by CNL in the communities of Port Hope and Port Granby in Ontario is a demonstration of Canada’s commitment to the safe, long-term storage and management of nuclear waste.
