Public Works Operator (Roads Labourer & Heavy Equipment Operator)

We are looking for the following position to complement our Public Works Department:

Public Works Operator
The successful candidate will have a good working knowledge of Heavy Equipment operation and possess a valid DZ License. Loader, backhoe and grader experience would be an asset. Experience driving a snow plow would be a distinct advantage. This position will require the successful candidate to work both independently and as an integral part of a team. Furthermore, participation in all aspects of operations including physical labour (digging, lifting, excavating etc.) will be expected.

The Town of Huntsville Roads Department is a member of the Local Union 636 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. All Public Works employees are on call on a rotating basis, 24 hours a day, 7 days per week between November 1st and April 30th for road winter maintenance activities. During the summer months, hours of operation are 7:00 am to 5:00 pm (10 hour shifts), Monday to Thursday.

The hourly rate for this position is $27.91 which also includes a comprehensive benefit package.
