Public Works Position

```Overview:
The Five Rivers Public Works position is responsible for a variety of construction initiatives, snow removal, mowing, public grounds keeping, maintenance of all municipal equipment, minor road repairs and the maintenance of the municipal properties for the safety of the public and fellow employees. Perform a variety of Public Works activities and maintenance relating to the municipal infrastructure (buildings/properties) as well as Bonar Law Commons (GNB Historic Site).

Inspection and maintenance of the Rexton Wastewater System.

The Public Works employee is an effective team member whose contributions assist in the achievements of the department and the municipality’s goals and objectives.

Duties:
- Perform general maintenance and repairs on Five Rivers facilities, including roads, sidewalks, parks, sewer system, and buildings
- Operate and maintain various equipment and tools necessary for Public Works projects
- Assist with snow removal and ice control during winter months and mowing and property maintenance during the rest of the year
- Conduct routine inspections to identify any potential hazards or maintenance needs.
- Respond to service requests and address public concerns in a timely and professional manner
- Collaborate with Five Rivers team members to ensure efficient completion of projects
- Follow safety protocols and adhere to all relevant regulations

Experience:

- Must posses a valid, minimum Class 5 driver’s license.

-High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in Public Works or a related field is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of basic construction techniques and equipment operation is a plus
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps, and technical drawings
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
