This role consists in leading a team of Purchasing and procurement specialists within the Analytics business unit in Quebec City, Canada.As a Purchasing and procurement manager, you will be the driving force behind excellence in the implementation of Purchasing and procurement strategies by optimizing the costs, quality, and reliability of our suppliers and of the products supplied, in compliance with corporate instructions/procedures and in alignment with the business strategy of the Analytics line.

Your responsibilities

  • Responsible for the implementation and execution of effective procurement strategies by the Procurement team, ensuring that suppliers have the capacity to meet current and future business needs.
  • Ensures that the relevant stakeholders understand the strategies and execute the processes in place, and ensures alignment between local procurement activities and the division's strategy.
  • Implements programs to improve costs, quality, and delivery, in accordance with procurement guidelines and corporate and business line objectives.
  • Ensures full and optimal use of the SAP Ariba platform in accordance with the procedure in place, both in terms of sharing supplier information and finding successful suppliers for ABB.
  • Manages the planning and monitoring of procurement activities, cost budgets, and savings forecasts.
  • Ensures that buyers minimize risks related to quality and financial exposure by purchasing in accordance with quality and business procedures and company guidelines.
  • Monitors the procurement processes and activities, and resolves issues related to procurement costs, quality, and delivery.
  • Monitors and reports on internal and supplier performance (key performance indicators (KPIs)), quality issues, and development actions.
  • Supports compliance with ABB's procurement performance indicators.
  • Utilizes the services of category teams at the local, regional, and global level to ensure appropriate supplier selection, and ensures that site needs are communicated in terms of category strategy establishment.
  • Defines and establishes local standard agreements with all major local suppliers.
  • Provides and maintains standard terms in purchase agreements and terms in accordance with company directives and guidelines.
  • Ensures that the procurement group is properly organized, staffed, qualified, and led while guiding, motivating, and developing junior colleagues in succession planning.
  • Ensures the integrity and respect of ABB's values and ethics in all activities carried out by the teams under his/her responsibility.
  • Is responsible for the health and safety of all employees and contractors of the teams under his/her responsibility, as well as for the continuous improvement of the health, safety, and environment (HSE) processes and of performance in matters of integrity.

Your background

  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) or a bachelor's degree in operations management, or any other related field.
  • Solid experience in Purchasing and supply management, ideally in the high-tech field.
  • Experience supervising or coordinating a Purchasing and procurement team with a collaborative, solution-minded, and results-oriented approach.
  • Have strong skills in the use of an ERP/MRP system, ideally SAP.
  • Excellent command of MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Excellent command of French and English and strong communication skills both written and spoken.
  • Demonstrate leadership, initiative, innovation while being customer-oriented.
  • Ability to suggest improvements to procedures and methodologies.
  • Ability to work effectively at all levels of the company.
  • Integrity and open-mindedness.
