Position:
Quality Assurance Assistant
Reports to:
Quality Assurance Manager
Responsibilities:
Ø Maintain HACCP (and SFCR and FSSC22000) programs including reassessment, verification, validations, NCR’s, “Hold and Release” databases, KPI’s, root cause analysis.
Ø Conduct food safety and technical training including CCP and/or prerequisite program training
Ø Conduct facility inspections
Ø Release of incoming raw materials and supplies by reviewing receiving inspection record and supplier documents.
Ø Review of process batch records for product release.
Ø Verifying Food Safety and Quality records.
Ø Reviewing supplier documents.
Ø Managing of non-conforming finished product and raw materials..
Ø Development of specifications, SOPs and work instructions.
Ø Investigate consumer complaints including documentation of findings and drafting responses as appropriate
Ø Equipment calibration Status review
Ø Food safety and quality training with production focused curriculum.
Skills and Knowledge:
Ø Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ø Hands-on approach, maintaining a visible presence within the operation at all times, including time on production floor.
Ø Detail-orientation with strong record keeping skills.
Ø The ability to effectively mentor, train, and develop team members.
Ø Availability to work on weekends and/or afternoon shift.
Qualifications:
Ø Minimum of a 2-year diploma, with preference given to those with diplomas/degrees in biotechnology, food science, biology or biochemistry.
Ø 1+ years experience in a Quality Department of a manufacturing company.
Ø Working knowledge of HACCP, GMP’s and SFCR or GFSI schemes.
Ø Formal internal auditing training will would be considered an asset.
Ø Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
Ø Eligibility to legally work in Canada.
Ø Fluent in written and spoken English.
