Quadra Island Base Crew (Mid June - End of Sept)

We are looking for Quadra Island Base Crew to join our tight-knit team! These individuals will play an essential and valued role in the Spirit of the West team. Full time and part time seasonal positions based on Quadra Island (Mid May to the end of September.)

Areas of Responsibility

Responsible for maintaining a tidy and organized work space by:

• Keeping the front entrance and backyard tidy
• Bringing in any dry gear and laundry from the lines
• Cleaning and organizing extra gear in the hallway and main work areas, including back table
• Ensuring laundry is done, including sleeping bags and rain gear
• Keeping sleeping bags organized and scheduled by drying them after each trip, ensuring they are washing according to the schedule and that every sleeping bag in use has a clean liner
• Organizing recycling, taking out the garbage and compost, and cleaning dishes
• Re packing gear such as tents, kitchen kits and informing management if you find items in need of repair
• Completing any tasks allocated on the Daily Schedule including, but not limited to: recycling, cleaning the bathroom, cleaning the fridge, cleaning the staff house and mopping

Completing trip clean-ups throughout the season and ensuring that:

• Leftover food, recycling and food bags are sorted
• All dishes and gear are washed and dried
• Working cooperatively and collectively all other employees of Spirit of the West Adventures

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with others

Remuneration & Benefits

• $19 - $21/hour for qualified applicants who are able to meet all of the duties and responsibilities as outlined above
• 4% vacation pay on all wages (in lieu of paid vacation time)

Background Information about Spirit of the West

Spirit of the West Adventures is based on Quadra Island, BC the traditional unceded territory of the We Wai Kai people. Quadra is a beautiful remote, rural community of approximately 3000 year-round residents. It is a 10-minute ferry ride from Campbell River on Vancouver Island which is a community of 35,000 residents with access to just about every service required or desired. Spirit of the West Adventures offers multi-day guided sea kayaking tours with the help of a seasonal team of upwards of 50 employees in our operational season and a team of between 5-8 year-round. We are a tight-knit team who truly care about what we do, our colleagues and our community. Housing is not included as part of this position, but we are happy to help make local connections. Expect rent to range from $800- $1500/month for most types of accommodation or for the hearty types we do have a few staff camping spots. A car or willingness to bike in all sort of conditions on a hilly island are required as there is no public transportation
