What will you do as an Quality Assurance and Compliance Manager?

The Quality Assurance and Compliance Manager will transform the high-level goals of LMI and our parent company TKH into an executable strategy and provide vision, leadership and project coordination to the Quality group. Working with other department leads, the Quality Assurance and Compliance Manager will ensure the execution of LMI’s ISO 9001 and 14001 management systems and coordinate all regulatory certifications with a focus on the proactive execution of strategies to deliver quality for all products and services. Priority will be put on ensuring that processes and systems are implemented to maximize value delivery to the customer and ensure quality is maintained, and build a culture of quality at LMI through education and training. The Quality Assurance and Compliance Manager is also responsible for tracking & reporting on quality-related KPIs, working with all teams to establish quality control processes for all products (including hardware and software), and evaluating and responding to customer quality concerns.
The Quality Assurance and Compliance Manager reports to the CEO and will be directly responsible for leading LMI’s Quality Assurance and Compliance team members and providing guidance on other quality-related roles embedded within other department teams. The Quality Assurance and Compliance Manager will interact directly with members of management at all levels of the organization to ensure that LMI achieves its desired quality level and adheres to relevant certifications and regulations.

  • Provide vision, leadership, and project coordination to the quality team.
  • Take ownership of all customer quality issues across the various products and services that LMI supplies to its customers. Work with sales support and product management to respond to customer quality concerns, and lead deep dive investigations into root cause(s) of major or systematic product (including hardware and firmware) or process issues.
  • Ensure that LMI’s quality management system conforms to ISO 9001 & 14001 and provide regular reporting on the performance of the QMS (e.g., results of quality audits, corrective actions), including the need for improvement
  • Ensure evaluation of, and reporting on, supplier quality systems. Coordinate with the Supply Chain team to deliver relevant quality reporting to LMI’s supplier base and drive root cause analysis and resulting actions with suppliers as required.
  • Monitor and analyze quality performance of products in the field through established metrics, report on changes and recommend actions to improve product quality.
  • Streamline critical company processes to ensure maximum value creation to customers and adherence to them by all staff. Support continuous improvement initiatives to continually refine and incrementally improve processes as they pertain to service and product quality.
  • Work with Engineering and R&D to develop quality control plans for all products during the NPI process and maintain the control plans throughout the product life. Ensure suppliers selected during the NPI process have the capability of meeting part requirements.
  • Manage compliance to applicable legal, regulatory, quality, environmental, and social accountability standards, including but not limited to, ISO-9001, ISO-14001, RoHS, REACH, CE, UL, LMI and TKH standards and codes of conduct.
  • Manage reporting of relevant non-financial metrics including CSR under the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive.

What do you need to be successful?

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Quality.
  • 10+ years of experience in a process engineering/Quality Assurance role with at least 3 of these years in a leadership role within a manufacturing/operations environment.
  • Experience driving projects requiring complex projects and change management across multiple departments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to actively listen, build engagement, negotiate and persuade others.
  • Excellent professional communication skills to interact with customers, suppliers, and co-workers.
  • Experience with optical, mechanical and electrical assembly and manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of quality tools such as lean, six sigma, root cause analysis and corrective action, advanced product quality planning (APQP), process failure mode and effect analysis (PFMEA), and control plans.
  • Previous experience implementing and coordinating PPAP (Production part approval process).
  • Thorough knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and CNC machining techniques.
  • Proven track record of product and process improvement.
  • Successful experience supporting the introduction of a new product to the manufacturing floor, having been part of the design and development process.
  • Understanding of operational methodologies in a design/manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and reasoning abilities to ensure data is utilized for sound business decisions.
  • Registration with EGBC as a professional engineer is an asset.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification is an asset.

BC/CALIFORNIA ROLES ONLY | Salary Range: $94,460 - $123,000 - $140,000

Expected Salary: Our typical hiring range will be +/- 10% of the midpoint listed above. Factors influencing this decision include qualifications and market conditions for the role.
