Position Overview
As the Quality Control Manager at Highland Fisheries, you are entrusted with the crucial responsibility of overseeing the day-to-day activities of our Quality Control Technicians. Reporting directly to the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager, you play a pivotal role in upholding our standards of excellence in food safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership in Quality Assurance: Manage and guide Quality Control Technicians in both Clam and Snow Crab operations, ensuring adherence to stringent quality standards.
- Expert Oversight: Provide specialized expertise in various aspects of food safety and quality systems, including auditing, instrumentation, and supplier oversight. Prepare for and participate in customer audits, addressing concerns collaboratively.
- Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with corporate, regulatory, and customer requirements. Lead food safety audits and oversee the implementation of corrective and preventative measures.
- Incident Investigation: Investigate and address food safety incidents promptly, ensuring compliance with reporting and corrective action protocols.
- Process Optimization: Independently troubleshoot issues and escalate complex matters as needed. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
- Adherence to Procedures: Follow established Quality Management Program policies and procedures. Report any deviations or nonconformities promptly and professionally to relevant stakeholders.
- Quality Control Activities: Conduct label and packaging verification, monitor Critical Control Points (CCPs), and perform sanitation and hygiene inspections using microbiological methods.
- Technical Duties: Conduct raw material testing, calibrate equipment, perform incoming and final product inspections, and maintain accurate records of all quality-related activities.
- Documentation and Training: File QC-related documents, conduct internal audits, and participate in training programs to ensure team competency and compliance.

Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience in High-Risk/High-Care Ready to Eat processing.
- Ideally holds a Food Science degree.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
