Bluewater Pipe is a manufacturing facility in Huron Park Ontario that produces corrugated plastic pipe and accessory products used primarily for agricultural purposes. Sharing a deeply rooted background in the field of agricultural drainage going back more than 60 years, Bluewater pipe and their partner company Soleno decided to join forces to better serve the needs of farmers in Southwestern Ontario.

We're searching for a Quality Control Lab Technician to join our team of hardworking professionals. The successful candidate will have extensive experience testing Quality Control metrics and then preparing and presenting test results in a clear and concise manner. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, be detail oriented and organized, have strong communication skills, and be adaptable to work on a variety of other tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand and comply with all Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • The calibration and proper care of of all measuring and test instruments and test apparatus
  • Understand the different products and product quality requirements, material specfications and ranges for meeting standards (pass/fail).
  • Have clear communication with the Plant Manager to inform of any quality discrepencies, and prevent the occurrence of any nonconformity’ relating to the product, process and quality system.
  • Verify the implementation of solutions and validate that problems with nonconforming product, deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • Collect Pipe Samples daily from the production floor and appropriate areas to bring to the lab. Return samples to production area for grinding at end of the day.
  • Understand and follow specific timeline requirements for product testing windows. Able to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • To recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.
  • To assist and advise the use of statistical tools.
  • Maintain exceptional records of all testing, results, communications both electronically and manually.
  • Operate forklift
  • Must be open to perform other assigned duties by the supervisor or President which can include a variety of tasks, such as housekeeping, organizing product samples and inventories, etc. This person will NOT be asked or allowed to perform work on the production floor.

80% of the 40 Hour Work week will be the above responsibilities directly related to the Quality Role. The other 20% will be other assigned duties by the supervisor. This person must have a willingness to help out in other areas, learn new things, and be a self-starter.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a quality testing environment.
  • Proven experience using a variety of quality testing instruments
  • Proven experience following documentation processes and strong ability to keep accurate records
  • Must be able to carry 30 lbs of material a distance of approximately 100M
  • Must be willing and able to drive a Forklift (training provided by company)
  • Must have proven ability to work efficiently and independently with minimal supervision
  • Computer skills: experience with Microsoft office, e-mail, electronic filing and organization of documents, and basic excel skills.

Hours of Work:

40 hour work week Monday - Friday. There is some flexibility on start time but generally our employees in the lab start at 8am.

Compensation:

  • This role starts at $22 / hour and can be as high as $26 depending on relevant experience

Certifications:

Company will provide all neccessary health & safety training as well as other required tranings. Experience driving a forklift is an asset but not required.
