Purpose

The QEHS Manager is a pivotal leadership role focused on establishing, maintaining, and enhancing the organization's quality, environmental, health, and safety management systems. This entails ensuring compliance with ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 standards, and the COR program, and driving initiatives in line with the organization's vision and core values.

What you will do

  • Strategic Implementation and Leadership: Drive organizational value and competitive advantage through strategic implementation of ISO and COR standards. Lead key initiatives including internal auditing, EHS committee activities, and Improvement Reports.
  • Organizational Vision and Culture Promotion: Actively support and promote the organization’s vision and core targets while nurturing and reinforcing the core values of Guardian Chemicals across all levels.
  • QEHS System Management and Compliance Oversight: Oversee the development and management of comprehensive QEHS systems and team members encompassing Training, Document Control, Corrective Action Program, and Emergency Response. Ensure the organization’s compliance with relevant policies, standards, and legal requirements such as WCB, TDG, NFPA, AER, CEPA, etc.
  • Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement: Lead the design and continuous improvement of various operational systems including Vendor Management, Purchasing, Product Setup, Maintenance, and Calibration. Conduct annual regulatory compliance and COR maintenance audits, manage ISO and COR audit processes, and produce Management Review summaries.
  • External Representation and Staff Development: Represent Guardian Chemicals in external organizations like NR CAER and play an active role in meetings and events. Conduct comprehensive training sessions for staff on QEHS-related topics and practices.

What you will bring

  • Educational and Professional Credentials: A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Safety Engineering, or a related field is required. Preferred certifications include ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001, and COR Alberta.
  • Experience and Leadership Skills: A minimum of 5 years of experience in a QEHS role, showcasing strong leadership, effective communication, and system management skills. Demonstrated ability in training and development within the QEHS domain.
  • Interpersonal and Organizational Competencies: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, a positive attitude for engaging with diverse teams and clients, along with outstanding organizational, planning, problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills.
  • Technical Proficiency and Compliance: Proficiency in MS Office Suite and the ability to comply with safety-sensitive work environment requirements, including drug and alcohol testing policies and emergency respirator fitting standards.
  • Additional Requirements: A valid driver’s license.
