Hours 70 bi-weekly Salary LX-28 ($47.87/hour (32.18 base rate plus 15.69 pensionable wage premium) to 56.39/hour (40.70 base rate plus 15.69 pensionable wage premium)
The following Sign on Incentives may be applicable and can be combined:
1. Signing bonus up to $10,000

Job Summary
The Radiation Therapist I provide a high standard of technical performance and patient care in the planning and delivery of accurate and precise treatment with ionizing radiation. This includes the administration of radiation treatments according to physician's prescription and set-up instructions to deliver a precisely measured dose to the defined tumour volume with minimal damage to the surrounding tissue. The Radiation Therapist I also assists in maintaining the daily appointment system through discussion with the Radiation Therapist II and the booking clerk; explains procedures, treatments and side effects to patients; participates in the simulation process to ensure accuracy and reproducibility of all positioning required for patient treatment; maintains accurate treatment records by recording treatment parameters daily to furnish documentary evidence of patient's treatment; participates in departmental quality assurance programs; performs weekly quality assurance checks on treatment charts; and performs other related duties.

Job Demands
By applying for this job, you acknowledge an understanding that regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to):
Regularly lifts or moves objects less than 10 lbs. (i.e. supplies, linens, charts, etc.), and occasionally objects between 10-50 lbs. (i.e. lead shielding, supplies, equipment, breast board, immobilization devices, and lifting beam modifying equipment), requiring strength and endurance.
Pushes and pulls patients over 50 lbs. in order to position/reposition them to perform treatments.
Regularly stands, walks, or sits for extended periods when performing procedures/treatments, or reviewing data on monitors.
Constantly performs fine finger or precision work using various controls on machines requiring very controlled movements.
Uses hand tools that require accurate control and steadiness. Gross motor skills are also required to reposition patients.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved (recognized) Radiation Therapy program is required.
Current registration and member in good standing with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) in Radiation Therapy is required.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
