Currently, we are hiring for the following position:

Registered Early Childhood Educator or equivalent (Child and Youth Worker or OCT Member) for our Before & After School Program (Kindergarten) at Our Lady of Good Counsel Child Care Centre in Sharon

  • Start Date: Feb 1st, 2024
  • Salary Range: $25.30-28.45/hour (based on experience) plus Provincial Wage Enhancement (up to $2.00/hour)
  • Hours of Work: 25 hours per week with the possibility of additional supply hours

**Must be available to work a split shift between 7-9am and 3-6pm from Monday to Friday to be considered for a position**

Responsibilities and Duties

  • To plan and implement an age appropriate program indoors and outdoors meeting the requirements of “How Does Learning Happen?” and the 4 foundations
  • To create a professional and positive image for the Agency on a daily basis
  • To have a working knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act and be in compliance with the Policies and Procedures of the Agency
  • To work as a member of a team which includes other staff, parents, community and the Agency
  • To share in the care and housekeeping tasks of the Centre
  • To grow and improve in the knowledge and skills required for the job
  • To create an inclusive environment where each child and family is valued

Skills and Qualifications

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education/CYW, OCT or equivalent
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of ECEs
  • Experience working with children JK to 12 years of age
  • Recent Vulnerable Sector Check
  • A valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate
  • Up to date immunizations including proof of full COVID-19 vaccination
  • Familiar with "How Does Learning Happen?" would be an asset
  • Strong programming and communications skills
  • Strong knowledge of child development
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable interacting with and supporting families and community members
  • Ability to actively participate in the outdoor program in inclement weather
  • Physically able to lift and/or assist with the moving of a child, the moving of supplies or equipment
