RECE/Early Childhood Assistant: Preschool

Summerhill Day School is looking for a Registered Early Childhood Educator or Early Childhood Assistant (or equivalent training/experience) to work in our Junior Preschool room. This position would be full time, working approximately 40 hours per week.

Summerhill offers a child-centred curriculum philosophy with a strong emphasis on the Reggio Emilia approach to learning, including Dr. Montessori's emphasis on children's independence and development of self-help skills. We are looking for someone who understands these philosophies or is excited to learn more about them.

As a staff member at Summerhill, you would become part of our small teaching team. We have 10 full-time staff and have a ‘family’ feel. Our teaching staff are provided with paid planning time and are compensated for professional development opportunities, including staff wellness days.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about working with young children and who is excited about working within a small team.

Candidates must be available to work Monday to Friday between the hours of 7:15 am and 6:00 pm.

RECEs must have:

- Proof of registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Current Immunization Record
- Current TB test
- Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check
- Food Handlers Certificate an asset
- Knowledge of Jolly Phonics and Second Step Programs an asset
