Located next to downtown Victoria, the Township of Esquimalt, with a population of over 17,000, is home to Canada’s Pacific Naval Fleet. The community boasts extensive amenities including beautiful parks and beaches, scenic waterfront walkways as well as modern recreational facilities, schools, and commercial services.
About our Organization:
The Esquimalt Recreation Centre is a multi-purpose wellness and community recreation facility. Features of the Recreation Centre include: 4500 + square foot Wellness Centre, featuring state-of-the-art cardio and strength training equipment, gymnasium, aquatic centre with six-lane 25 metre lap pool, warm “lifestyle pool” and tot pool with spray features, wheelchair accessible hot-tub, steam room, and sauna. In addition, to recreation activities and programs, there are hundreds of year-round community programs to choose from.
About the Opportunity:
Our Reception Department is seeking a motivated individual to fill a temporary, regular part time, auxiliary Reception Leader position, reporting to the Reception Programmer.
The ideal candidate will:

  • Possess excellent customer service skills as well as mentor team members in this area.
  • Perform daily cash handling duties along with administration of cash floats, balance daily cash and related transactions, and the preparation of cash summaries and bank deposits.
  • Assist the Reception Programmer with coaching, mentoring, training, and daily supervision of reception staff.
  • Provide strong & effective communication with all program areas.
  • Perform administration support to Parks and Recreation Staff.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1-year related experience (may be a combination of education and experience) including at least 6-months providing customer service and cash handling
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Demonstrate multi-tasking abilities in a fast-paced environment with a keen attention to detail
  • Completion of High School Diploma
  • Basic office, computer, and bookkeeping training (3 months)


Schedule:
Approximately 24 hours/week up to a maximum of 40 hours per week, working a combination of opening, daytime, evening, and weekend shifts.

Salary: $30.10 – $32.41 hourly 14% in lieu of benefits (2024 rates)
