Recreation Culture and Tourism Facility Operations Coordinator
(NexSource Centre)

Full Time Position – 40 Hours Per Week (Schedule may vary)
Starting Wage - $33.44

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:

The RCT Facility Operations Coordinator is the lead hand in Facility Operations; assigning, guiding, and participating in operations activities and ensuring ice maintenance, janitorial work and facility equipment monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting duties are conducted in a timely and safe manner. This role is responsible for managing and maintaining the records of the division and scheduling and deploying staff based on department demands. All Custodial staff will directly report to the Operations Coordinator.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedule operations staff
  • Support and enforcing the Town Health and & Safety Policy and Procedures, and

Provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements

  • Order products, inventory, and janitorial supplies
  • Maintain quality artificial ice including resurfacing, edging and maintenance
  • Operate the Zamboni and edger
  • Monitor the ice plant regularly and takes appropriate actions as necessary for safe operation including logs, pressure readings, temperatures, tests, cleaning and maintenance
  • Inspect and perform preventative maintenance on ice resurfacer including blade changes, greasing, tires, oil changes
  • Assist in the maintenance of swimming pool and swimming pool equipment
  • Ensures the provision of quality recreation facilities, positive customer experiences and

safety by assisting in the management of the day-to-day operations of the NexSource
Centre which includes cleanliness, maintenance, event set ups and opening and closing the facility.

  • Operate skid steer for snow removal, general snow removal, grass cutting, grass edging and general cleanup of debris from the property outside of the building.
  • Assist the supervisor and provide leadership to the operations team including coordinating meetings, collaborating with other staff members to maximize facility usage, coaching and training of staff.
  • Models expected behaviors related to work standards, customer service, respectful workplace and time management

TRAINING, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Grade 12 graduation (or equivalent)
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a Municipal Setting
  • Arena Operator 1 & 2
  • Swimming Pool Operator Level 1 & 2
  • Building Maintenance Level 1 & 2 an Asset
  • Curling Rink Level 1 Ice Technician an Asset
  • Minimum of 3 years previous training and operation of ice resurfacing equipment
  • A valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License
  • Standard First Aid/CPR C
  • RCMP based Criminal Record Check
