Recreation Program Leaders are responsible for the program
planning, general safety and overall enjoyment of the
patrons attending the programs. Duties include providing a
high level of service and a fun experience to patrons with
consideration of safety for staff and facility users at all times.
The ideal candidate will exercise care in all dealings with
other employees and will provide assistance to customers
using the facilities.
Recreational Program Monitor is responsible for the set-up
and delivery of a variety of recreational programs for all
ages. The employee is responsible for the participating in all
program activities, providing first aid, communicating safety
concerns and dealing with patron behaviors during all
schedule programs and shifts.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS
AND ABILITIES:
Skills, expertise and experience leading recreational
sport programs, inclusive games and/or arts and
cultural programs
Intermediate ice skating ability
Skills, expertise and experience leading and working
with youth
Ability to demonstrate program planning skills and
behavior management strategies
Ability to problem solve
Ability to work independently
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to demonstrate program planning skills
Intermediate ice skating ability
REQUIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Standard First Aid with CPR-C
Strong verbal communication skills, including excellent
customer service skills
Proficiency and confidence in working young with
children and their parents
Satisfactory Criminal Record
Community coaching certification, HIGH FIVE Principles
of Healthy Childhood Development (PHCD) certification,
education or other training/certification that would
provide knowledge regarding ages and physical and
cognitive developmental stages would be considered an
asset.

These are auxiliary/part-time positions making $19.13/
hour as a Recreation Program Leader and $16.75/hour
working as a Recreation Program Monitor.
