The Opportunity:

The CLC Fitness and Recreation Center is co-owned and operated by both Olds College and Chinook's Edge School Division using a business model to serve multiple clients from both partners and the community of Olds and surrounding area. Reporting to the Manager of Fitness and Recreation, the Community Learning Campus Recreation Supervisor is responsible for the promotion, coordination, implementation and evaluation of Community Learning Campus recreation programs, leagues and events. This position oversees a team of part-time student staff and community volunteers. The successful candidate must understand this unique role, the importance of successful operations and be willing to work flexible hours including some weekends, and evenings.

Key Job Functions:

Program Coordination & Implementation

  • Coordinate and implement a robust student recreation engagement program, with internal partners, Olds College of Agriculture and Technology and Chinook's Edge School Division..

  • Develop, manage and monitor the implementation of new and modified recreation programs based on analyses and assessments of community's needs and priorities.
  • Development of marketing materials and promotion strategies to increase recreation program registrations, through strategic partnerships i.e. Town of Olds, Chinook's Edge School Division, Mountain View County, Olds College etc.
  • Serve on, and collaborate with internal and external committees as assigned, (e.g. CLC Athletic use, Student Life Engagement Committee, Olds College Student Association, Olds College Health and Wellness Services, and Residence Services.

Supervision and Leadership

  • Responsible for recreation staffing needs; directs and participates in the recruitment, selection, training, evaluation and progressive discipline, and all other personnel related processes.
  • Participates in developing and assists in implementation of the strategic plan, ensuring goals are consistent with mission and vision of Olds College and Chinook's Edge School Division.
  • Actively promotes a Respectful Workplace and adheres to the Code of Conduct and Health and Safety policies, to create optimal work conditions.

Financial

  • Assists in the development of an annual budget for assigned areas of responsibility. Prepares resource and revenue projections, administers and monitors assigned budget.
  • Tracks and analyzes revenues and expenditures on an ongoing basis. Recommends budget adjustments as necessary.

Administrative Duties & Customer Service

  • Oversee, coordinate and participate in the preparation, scheduling and use of required facilities for assigned programs and activities.
  • Responsible for all administration, and data entry pertaining to recreation programming and/or special events. Purchases and maintains inventory and supplies for assigned programs. Monitors and assesses the condition of the facilities being used in terms of suitability, physical condition, and safety.
  • Reports facility maintenance concerns promptly. Initiates and coordinates repair of products and equipment utilized in assigned programs and activities.

Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • A minimum of 2 years of post-secondary education in a closely related field, such as, Sports Management, Physical Education plus 5 years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • The individual will have strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with partners and clients.
  • Demonstrates the ability to handle high volume, dynamic workloads in a busy public environment, while engaging professionally with community, students, and other stakeholders.
  • The successful candidate will have strong organizational and time management skills and have the ability to work both individually and as a team.
  • Efficient in Microsoft suite and google applications.
