This position is moving to OPG Corporate Headquarters: In Summer 2025, OPG will officially welcome employees to our new Corporate Headquarters located at 1908 Colonel Sam Drive, Oshawa, Ontario. JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Recruitment Onboarding Coordinator/ Specialist.

Reporting to the Recruitment Manager, this position is responsible to facilitate onboarding sessions for new employees, preparing internal collaborators for a new hire, and ensuring all documentation is completed in full and accounted for.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Support Business Leaders: Serve as the main point of contact for business leaders and new employees during the onboarding process, providing them with information, answering their questions, and addressing any concerns; Deliver presentations to large groups of new hires each week; Utilize multiple systems and data sources to create orientation profiles for new employees and facilitate internal transitions; Provide excellent service and support to the business; ensuring the business is leveraging and aware of the support the R&O team can provide; Ensure recruitment and onboarding (R&O) processes and best practices are followed.
  • Collaborate with Internal Partners: Offer feedback to the Recruitment team to ensure seamless handoff from Recruitment to Onboarding; Deliver accurate and timely documentation to assist hiring managers and training specialists to ensure enrollment in relevant training sessions.
  • Equity & Diversity Recruitment: Support various diversity hiring initiatives to support further equity recruitment throughout the business; across all skills disciplines.
  • Business Change & Continuous Improvements: Help to drive changes to improve support to the business using technology and other tools, help extend our reach into the market, and help improve the way we work and deliver the end-to-end recruitment process.
  • Industry Best Practices: Participate in appropriate networks and forums to maintain knowledge of leading practices in recruitment and onboarding.
  • Applicant Tracking System (ATS) utilization, Data and Metrics: Continuously utilize an applicant tracking system throughout the recruitment process to ensure accurate reporting and tracking against KPIs.

EDUCATION
  • 4 year university degree in social sciences, business, and/or human resources or a related field with relevant experience.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong presentation skills and facilitation experience to clearly convey information about company policies, procedures, and culture to large groups of new hires.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate to a wide audience clearly and concisely.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships across the business with multiple stakeholders, internally and externally.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to effectively manage multiple conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible, hybrid office environment both individually and as part of a team.
  • Organized, possess a positive attitude with a proactive approach. Someone who takes the initiative and has a strong passion and desire to succeed.
  • Strong influential leadership skills; ability to help train and motivate others; working with a small team of professionals and others across other areas of HR.
  • Experience working in/for/on behalf of highly regulated industries such as energy, utilities, power, mining, or manufacturing.
  • Experience working directly with Skilled Trades would be considered an asset.
  • Experience recruiting for or on behalf of a unionized environment; understanding collective agreement recruitment protocols and processes.
  • Experience working with equity deserving candidates; building a welcoming environment; demonstrating trust and support; supporting and providing candidates with necessary accommodations.
  • A continuous learner who is forever curious seeks to innovate, challenge the status quo, and exceed expectations.
  • A period of over 4 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
