Job Title
REM Project - Network & Telecom Engineer
Purpose of the Job
For the REM Project (Montreal), as part of the Alstom SLV (Signalling & Low Voltage) solution, multiple Networks and Telecoms subsystems (e.g. Passenger Wi-Fi, Train-Ground Wi-Fi, field networks , Backbone) are being deployed.
Acting as a key member of the SLV Technical team in Montreal, the Network & Telecom Engineer is responsible for the management and success of all cross-functional activities (e.g. design, installation, testing, operational performance) related to these subsystems.
Network & Links
The Network & Telecom Engineer shall mainly coordinate with:
-Internal supplier and offshore SLV engineering team to coordinate the delivery of the design documentation.
-Onshore SLV Installation team to install the sub-systems.
-Onshore SLV Test & Commissioning team to validate the sub-systems.

Mission ---------------------------------------------
Objectives
The main objective of the Network and Telecom Engineer is delivering the Network & Telecom sub-systems to the customer, with the right quality, within budget and on time.
As an Engineer (member of the OIQ), he has the technical responsibility of supervising the engineering teams, as well as authenticating the engineering documents produced.
Responsibilities
-Proactively manage and supervise the Network & Telecom activities.
-Validate and authenticate the engineering documents produced.
-Ensure resolution of technical topics in coordination with Engineering, Installation and Test and Commissioning Teams.
-Rebaselining and change management at sub-system level.
-Manage sub-system situation and KPI, and report with transparency.
-Upon request from PM, is delegated to represent Alstom towards Customer and external stakeholders.
 
Performance Measurement
-Network & Telecom documentation fully accepted by the customer.
-Revenue service readiness.
-Customer and passenger’s satisfaction.
-Performance on radio and network issues/incident resolutions.

Candidate Requirements ----------------------------------
Educational Requirements
Engineering diploma, preferably with telecommunication major.
Desired Knowledge / Experience
-OIQ member (or eligible to an OIQ temporary permit).
-Experience in large project deployment/management is an asset.
-A good understanding of projects managed in a consortium, multi-cultural and challenging planning environment is required.
 
Behavioural Skills / Competencies

-Agile and proactive when facing anomalies,
-Rigorous,
-Team spirit,
-Open to expand its role within the project (ex: work on other Low Voltage sub-systems).
 
Technical Skills & Competencies
-Technical knowledge: Wi-Fi technology/systems, Radio, networks and cybersecurity.
-Good technical writing and communication skills.
-Ability to read technical drawings.
-Project management skills: KPI updates, planning updates, reporting.
-Fluent in French and English is required.

Exceptionally, some project phases might require flexible work shifts (night, weekend).
Potential trips worldwide for tests in factory, technical meetings or trainings.
