Remote Fishing Guide

Sabourin Lake Lodge is a family-owned fishing camp sitting on 21 acres, located 50 miles beyond the reach of any road on majestic Sabourin Lake, Ontario in Woodland Caribou Wilderness Park, 1 hour north of Kenora. The Lodge is accessible only by float plane.

We are now hiring for our 2024 season, running from May 15th through September15th. We are seeking reliable and adventurous Fishing Guides to join our team, that have a passion for sharing their craft with others. The ideal candidate will be mature, dedicated, experienced, personable and demonstrate a passion for providing the perfect angling adventure for our guests. Experience catching Pike and Walleye fishing is a definite asset!!

This Guide position will answer directly to the Senior Guide and Lodge Manager, and will interact daily with the Sabourin Lake Lodge team. The Sabourin team works together to provide an exceptional experience for all guests young and old.

Compensation + Perks

• All positions are full time
• Wages $4000.00-$5000.00 per month

Duties + Responsibilities

• ·Provide the excellent customer service and experience for all our guests
• Welcome guests at the dock and assist with the loading and unloading of supplies, gear, and luggage from aircraft.
• Responsible for cleaning and maintaining guide personal quarters and staff social areas
• Operate and maintain boat and equipment, clean and fuel boat daily.
• Prepare shore lunch pales for your guest’s shore lunches
• Plan and lead daily fishing excursions, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all guests.
• Assist in the departure of guests, including moving luggage from cabins to dock/aircraft.
• On days not on the lake, opportunity to help with camp work such as cutting wood, raking sand, staining wood, garbage disposal, and other duties as assigned (some heavy lifting may be required).

Requirements + Qualifications

• Relocating to Sabourin Lake Lodge (Spring-Fall) position based in The Woodland Caribou Provincial Park
• At least 1-2 years of related guiding or instructing experience preferred
• Avid fisherman with a passion for sharing their craft with others
• Must be safety and detail-oriented
• Ability to carry moderate-heavy loads, bend/kneel easily, and withstand being on your feet for the entirety of each shift
• Solid interpersonal skills allow one to work effectively in a diverse and dynamic setting
• Desire to learn and provide a first-class guest experience
• Positive attitude and professional demeanor
• Passion for the outdoors and interest in the adventures that come along with working/living in a remote lodge environment

Location/Transportation

• Our lodge is located 50 miles beyond the reach of any road on majestic Sabourin Lake, Ontario in Woodland Caribou Wilderness Park, 1 hour north of Kenora. The Lodge is accessible only by float plane
• Staff will be provided transportation to the lodge at the beginning of the season and back when the season is over
• All staff will be required to arrange transportation to and from Adventure Air located at 52 Blueberry Rock Dr, Lac du Bonnet, MB R0E 1A0, where the float plane will pick them up and drop them off at the start and end of the season.
• All staff are required to stay on site during the season May to mid September
