The work of Good Shepherd is based on a fundamental belief in providing hope and restoring dignity to the most vulnerable members of our community. Our services include emergency food transitional housing and education for homeless and street-involved youth; hospice palliative care; community mental health programs; and supportive housing programs. We are committed to integrating Harm Reduction practices into our programs and to prioritizing the rights, dignity, and choices of those who use substances. By integrating a Harm Reduction framework at Good Shepherd, we can decrease barriers to service and better support some of our community's most marginalized members.


This opportunity is with our Good Shepherd - Housing Department

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Respond to in person enquiries from tenants and other contacts to appropriate staff members
  • Answer and direct phone calls to the appropriate person.
  • Open and distribute the incoming mail, manage the out-going mail, maintain and reconcile petty cash.
  • Manage all bookings of the community room, provide support with faxes and photocopying as required.
  • Receive housing applications and maintain waiting list and update as required.
  • Coordinate, schedule and keep records of staff meetings.
  • Coordinate and manage after hour answering system requirements.
  • Maintain filing for the office including tenant files, maintenance files and building files
  • Preparation of relevant Tribunal Housing forms to the Landlord & Tenant Board (LTB) as requested by dept. managers or Director of Tenant and Housing Services.
  • Prepare notices of entry as per the Residential Tenancies Act
  • Prepare monthly arrears reports and follow up with tenants as required.
  • Prepare correspondence to tenants as required, assist with the annual income verification process as required.
  • Backup up on reception desk as required.
  • All other administrative duties as required

What You'll Bring to Our Team

  • Some post secondary education and/or a combination of education and experience.
  • Some experience in a similar capacity.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of Responsibility, Availability, Adaptability, Hospitality, Quality and Dignity.
  • Outgoing and adaptable in working in a fast paced and changing environment; able to multi-task.
  • Creativity and flexibility in achieving desired outcomes.
  • Hospitable in dealings with clients and other key stakeholders.
  • Available and responsive to the needs of others.
  • Respectful and compassionate demeanor.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, computer, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills; experience with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams.
  • CPR/First Aid certification and WHMIS training an asset.
  • Detail-oriented; well-organized and ability to manage varying tasks.
  • Verbal and written skills in another language an asset.
  • Fluency in a language in addition to English is an asset
