Contributes to the overall success of the Research team ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.


You will join a dynamic team, working alongside highly trained professional analysts and portfolio managers. We are looking for someone with a related area of study (finance, portfolio management, sustainability, or accounting). Successful candidates will have a demonstrated passion for sustainable investing.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Work closely with the Global Investment Team and members of the Sustainable Investment Committtee to:
  • Perform ESG research on investee companies,
  • Support proxy voting operations and research
  • Perform climate-related analysis in support of JFL's climate action plan
  • Execute other ad-hoc projects, such as diversity & Inclusion research, data organization, research on emerging ESG trends, and preparation for company engagements
  • Understand how JFL's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with the firm's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills and requirements that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if:

  • Demonstrated passion for ESG-related matters and investment management
  • Strong ability to collect, organize, and analyze large volumes of data and metrics
  • Ability to clearly articulate and present ideas and findings
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment while also able to work independently and show initiative by taking ownership of assigned projects
  • Analytical skills.
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset. Pursuant to a language needs assessment conducted by Scotiabank, the successful candidate will be required to be able to communicate in English because they will be required to work closely with other groups from head office who operate primarily in English and they will report to a manager from head office who is an English speaker.
