Job Description


We invite you to help us shape the future of agriculture. At Syngenta, we believe every employee has a role to play in safely feeding the world and taking care of our planet. To support that challenge, the Seeds team is currently seeking a Research Technician in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. As a Research Technician, you will work alongside our research team to conduct a small-plot research program within our Seeds portfolio.

Accountabilities

  • Execution of small-plot research program in Soy and Corn.
  • Preparation of research materials, plot layout, and application of compounds.
  • Record keeping and data collection to evaluate progress throughout the season.
  • Gain valuable experience in agricultural practices, crop production, machinery operation, identification of weeds, insect and crop diseases, and trial methodology.
  • Take notes and coordinate notetaking on Stage 2-6 trials and input data.
  • We prioritize safety by ensuring all team members receive relevant training, are accountable for their safety and others, and are encouraged to contribute ideas for improvement.

Duration:Until the end of August 2024.


Qualifications


Requirements

  • A positive attitude and team player. Confident to work independently.
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Class 5 license
  • Comfortable wearing a respirator and working mainly outdoors during the planting and growing season.
  • Ability to repetitively lift a max of 20 lbs. at one time and work in sustained awkward postures.
  • Always adhere to Syngenta HSE and Seed Stewardship; relevant training is provided during work. The internship is an integral part of our operation, and we encourage Interns to “If you see something, say something.”

  • Previous relevant experience is considered an asset; however, all experience levels and academic disciplines are welcome to apply.
